I am no expert in unicycling reviews, but I have to say that after a short, well informed wait from Unicycle.com, these guards appeared and fitted superbly well. I have no complaints at all. They fit well due to the rather accurate size chart used, they protect well although I have not had a mishap since they arrived. I would imagine these are about the best in the field,. and for my money excellent value (Posted on 24/09/2016)
The leg armour o.k. but found that the two top stripes rubber the side of leg and on the knee cap cups rubber abit . Had to put a sox over knee to stop the strips and knee cap from rubber on skin. (Posted on 19/06/2016)
Good in length (if anything a touch short even though in XL). The elastic only has a small square of velcro right at the end which is okay but doesn’t allow for much tensioning, I have pretty lean legs so I guess I might still grow into them with more riding. It’s not a big issue though because the guards are so long they rest right down onto the crook of my ankle. The knees are not just leather like I though, they’re actually solid shells which is great and the elastic is not going to irritate the inside of my knees which is why I never normally wear knee pads. Just canvas up the back of the calf but that’ll still stop pedals from tearing my skin off and the faceted guards provide good protection up the shin all around. The inside facet is covered in leather which is going to be extra durable against those crown knocks and pedal misses. My favourite part is that these go right down to the ankle so no more taking pedals between shoes and guards. Big thanks to Kris Holm and Unicycle.com for these! (Posted on 19/03/2016)
5 star postage as always from unicycle.com and they kindly corrected the mistake I made on my order!
I was considering getting a set of leg pads designed for downhill mountain biking but decided to go with these because they are specifically designed for unicycling. The inside of each pad is reinforced in case of contact with the frame or wheel and the protection on the front of the pads will withstand any wack from the pedals. The protection on the back of the pads is really important for unicycling to stop the pedals from tearing up your calf and not many DH pads included good rear protection. All of the velcro and the stitching is really strong. The sizing chart provided is really good and they don't slip down whilst wearing. They get hot just like any pads but can be easily washed. They are not bulky and restrictive like a lot of pads can be and they really don't get in the way at all. They look great too! I never go riding without them. (Posted on 08/01/2016)
